#BoldBeliefDevotional by Paul Natekin
Key Bible Verse:
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” — Romans 8:28 (NIV)
Have you ever considered what it means to do the right thing, even when no one is watching? This question touches on the core of our character, challenging us to live out our faith with integrity, even in the moments we think are private.
Apologetic Insight:
(from Greek ἀπολογία, ‘speaking in defense’) Defending and explaining faith with reason and evidence.
In Acts 5:1-5, we read about Ananias and Sapphira, who thought their sin of dishonesty regarding land would remain hidden. However, God sees all, as Jesus Himself reminds us, “Nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light” (Luke 8:17). This principle is echoed by apologists like J. Warner Wallace, who in his work on “Cold Case Christianity,” discusses the reality of divine omniscience. Wallace points out that our actions, especially those we think are private, are known to God, and they reveal our true character. Our integrity, therefore, is not just about what others see but about aligning our lives with God’s truth and righteousness, even in the unseen moments.
Encouragement & Application:
Remember, living with integrity isn’t about impressing others or earning favor; it’s about honoring God in every aspect of your life. When you face a decision, ask yourself, “Would I do this if only God were watching?” This mindset can transform your daily choices, leading to a life that reflects Christ’s character. Consider setting aside time to reflect on your actions, pray for guidance, and seek accountability from trusted friends or mentors.
Reflection Questions:
- What areas of your life do you struggle with maintaining integrity when no one is watching?
- How can the awareness of God’s omniscience influence your daily decisions?
Prayer:
Dear God, thank You for knowing every part of us, even the parts we keep hidden. Help us to live with integrity, not for the applause of others, but for Your glory. Strengthen us to make choices that honor You, even in the unseen moments. Guide us to be true reflections of Your love and righteousness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
