Have you ever heard claims that the virgin birth of Jesus is just another recycled myth from ancient pagan stories? It’s normal to feel confused when faced with such assertions, but let’s dive into the truth together.

Critics often try to draw parallels between the virgin birth of Jesus and pagan myths, but these comparisons fall short. J. Warner Wallace, a former cold-case detective, emphasizes the importance of eyewitness testimony in establishing historical facts. In his work, Wallace points out that the New Testament accounts of Jesus’ life and resurrection are grounded in the testimonies of multiple eyewitnesses who were willing to die for their belief in what they had seen and experienced.
Moreover, as pointed out by Norman Geisler, the nature of the virgin birth in Christianity is fundamentally different from pagan stories. The Greek myths describe gods having physical relations with humans, resulting in hybrid offspring, whereas the virgin birth of Jesus involved the Holy Spirit overshadowing Mary (Luke 1:35), resulting in a fully human nature for the Son of God.
