Have you ever wondered about the true nature of Jesus? It’s easy to have doubts, especially when faced with the extraordinary claims about His identity. But let’s take a moment to consider the undeniable evidence of His miracles, which are not just acts of kindness but powerful signs pointing to His deity.
Apologetic Insight:
(from Greek ἀπολογία, ‘speaking in defense’) Defending and explaining faith with reason and evidence.
The New Testament is filled with accounts of Jesus performing miracles that left no doubt about His divine nature. As John Lennox points out, “The miracles of Jesus were not merely acts of compassion but signs that authenticated His claim to be the Son of God.” These signs, such as turning water into wine (John 2:7-8) and raising Lazarus from the dead (John 11:43-44), were not random displays of power but deliberate acts meant to reveal His glory and affirm His identity as the Messiah.
William Lane Craig adds, “The historical evidence for the miracles of Jesus is compelling and supports the conclusion that He was more than just a good teacher; He was divine.” These miracles were witnessed by many and recorded by the apostles, who were willing to die for their testimony. As J. Warner Wallace notes, “The apostles’ willingness to face persecution and martyrdom for their belief in Jesus’ resurrection and miracles underscores the credibility of their accounts.”

When doubts about Jesus’ identity arise, remember the signs He performed. These miracles are a testament to His divinity and a reminder that He is the Son of God. To deepen your faith, spend time reflecting on these accounts in the Gospels, and consider discussing them with a mentor or in a faith community.
