Have you ever found yourself in a conversation with someone from a different faith, unsure of how to respond? It can be intimidating, but it’s also an opportunity to share the hope we have in Christ. Let’s explore how we can engage with grace and truth.

When talking with members of cults, it’s crucial to be well-versed in Scripture, as suggested by Norman Geisler, who emphasizes the importance of knowing basic Bible teachings to recognize false doctrines. He states, “The best defense against false teaching is a thorough understanding of the truth.” This aligns perfectly with 1 Peter 3:15, which encourages us to be ready to give a reason for our hope.

William Lane Craig also highlights the importance of defining terms clearly, as cultists often use the same words but with different meanings. He advises, “Clarify the terminology to ensure you’re both on the same page.” This approach helps us to keep the conversation grounded in truth.

Moreover, J. Warner Wallace suggests asking strategic questions to encourage critical thinking. He notes, “Questions can lead someone to examine their beliefs more deeply.” This method can gently guide the conversation back to the Bible, as recommended in the list of suggestions.
